December Sunday Service Schedule:
All services take place at 10:30 am in person and online. Fellowship Hour Following the Service
December 1 “Dancing Through the Dark”
Rev. Matthew & Alex Stucky
Dancing in the Streets AZ brings their young dancers to inspire us with their Nutcracker, as we recall how small actions have big impacts.
December 8 “Celebrating the Dark” Pulpitpalooza Rev. Tina Squire & Melody Luepke
During these days of decreasing light let’s take time to value the dark. From gaining more time to see planets in the morning or evening sky, to periods of uncertainty that allow us to grow, to the skin of people of color so often associated with evil under white supremacy, we will reclaim the beauty of what we call black.
December 15 “Nine Lessons & Carols”
Chris Tackett, MVUU Choir & Musicians, Rev. Matthew
Our beloved musical celebration of Yule, Christmas, and Hanukkah returns with three lessons and carols from each holy day.
December 22 “Yule: Endings”
Samar Adi & Maria Menconi
The day after the longest night, we let go of the past so we can embrace all that is to come.
December 24, “Christmas Eve Pageant”
Rev. Matthew, Stacie Sosa, & Robin Bousel,
Twas the night before Christmas when MVUU once again brings the meaning of Jesus’ birth alive in our multigenerational, interactive pageant.
December 28 “New Year: Beginnings”
Just before the old year ends, we reach for the future so we can embrace all that is to come.
We welcome you to our Sunday Services whether in our sanctuary, on Zoom, or on our YouTube channel. Here you might sing a few hymns, listen to our choir—and maybe even tap your foot to our band. A reflection or sermon is usually delivered by our minister, one of our members, or a guest speaker. Maybe you’ll come on a Sunday that is interactive or when members present readings and choral selections. Another Sunday may include a celebration of a life event or be devoted to a justice issue. You might catch a humorous enactment expressing one of our values. In other words, no two Sundays are the same at MVUU.
What is the same is that You Are Welcome here.
All ages are welcome: Children and youth may attend the entire Sunday service or participate in age-specific programming. We provide children’s activities with background checked volunteers every Sunday for our community members ages 2-10.
Wear what you please: At MVUU you’ll see casual clothes, shorts and jeans, and maybe even skirts and neckties.
Our building is accessible: We can accommodate wheelchairs, canes, and walkers. We have assistive listening devices. Our restrooms are accessible, family-friendly, and gender neutral.
Introduce yourself if comfortable: We invite visitors to introduce themselves so that people in the congregation can welcome you. Participation is always optional!
Stay for Coffee Hour: We want to meet you, so stick around. Coffee Hour is practically a UU ritual where we gather casually and make connections in an informal atmosphere. Stay for a coffee, linger on the garden patio, or play on the swing-set.
