Seattle Peace Chorus – Tuesday, Jan 29 – Friday, Feb 1
The Seattle Peace Chorus will be in Tucson January 29 – February 1 as part of their 2019 Southwest Migrant Solidarity tour. The chorus is scheduled to perform at UUCT at 7 pm January 31 and also hopes to engage in local immigrant support efforts. Tickets are now available for the concert which will be a fundraiser for local church shelters housing asylum seekers. We are working to facilitate home-stays for 3 nights with UUCT and MVUU members for 27 choral members. The chorus is renting vans to transport members, with the goal of finding accommodations within 20 minutes of UUCT. Please contact chorus member Martha Baskin at: mobaskin@earthlink.net if you can provide a bed or couch. If you have questions or wish to purchase tickets in advance, contact Jan Mulder at: janmulder@cox.net.

Take note!!  The Seattle Peace Chorus will be rehearsing on Wednesday, the 30th in UUCT’s Goddard Hall from 7 pm to 8:30 pm. The chorus would love to have choral members join them in learning several fairly simple songs: Bridges Not Walls (Billy Bragg) and a new piece composed in memory of the two Guatemalan children who died in ICE custody, Requiem for Felipe Gomez Alonzo & Jakeline Caal Maquin.

We would also would love the following instrumentalists to join us: Flute (for the requiem); and bass guitar and Congo (or djembe) drums to accompany us on another original piece called There’s Been a Great Injustice Here, written by our director, Fred West.

The songs can be accessed on the Seattle Peace Chorus website, http://seattlepeacechorus.org/members-only/learning-files/. Scroll down to: Features of the Members Only Section, put in the password: sing4Peace (case sensitive), then to 2nd bullet  “Listen to or download music learning files.
