On Presidents’ Day, February 19, interested MVUU members will again, join other Arizona UUs in Phoenix for our DAY AT THE LEGISLATURE (DATL). MVUU members have been participating in our state-wide UU Justice Arizona Network (UUJAZ) from its beginnings.
To get ready for DATL, UUJAZ will give an orientation session for the BAJA-4 congregations. On Sunday January 7th at 2:30pm at UUCT (the UU Church of Tucson). We’ll leave Practice a little early that afternoon (carpooling would be important) in order to acquaint ourselves with how to contact Legislators for appointments, just as other UUS from all over Arizona will do in order to make our presence known at the Legislature.
Meeting with our own legislators and observing the legislature in session is a great way to learn about how we can and must communicate with our State representatives. To follow up after our visit, plan to sign up for Dr. Anne Schneider’s monthly LEGISLATIVE ALERT. Anne, a member of the Valley UU Congregation in Chandler, also serves as UUJAZ Policy Coordinator.
Simply send your email to [email protected] and learn how to email your thoughts to your Legislators while they’re in session; when you want to be removed from the list, just email that request to Anne in another email.
Beginning on January 7 at MVUU, a member of the Justice Coordinating Council (JCC) will have a Sign-up Sheet for DATL that will take names and emails in order to set up carpools for this important February 19 event.
