DESCRIPTION:Literature of the U.S.-Mexico Borderlands \nA four-part series which will be facilitated by Chuck Tatum at the dates and times below: \nMVUU Sanctuary\nJanuary 28th\, 2:30 to 3:40 PM\nFebruary 4th \, 2:30 to 3:40 PM  \nUUCT Sanctuary:\nFebruary 25th\, 3:00 to 4:10 PM\nMarch 18th\, 3:00 to 4:10 PM \nBelow is a brief summary of the series. \nThe U.S.-Mexico borderlands that extend from Chula Vista/Tijuana on the West Coast to Brownsville/Matamoros on the Gulf Coast for more than one-hundred and fifty years have been the focus of numerous Mexican American\, Native American\, Anglo American\, and Mexican writers who have explored this geographic area’s diverse cultural\, social\, linguistic\, demographic\, and geopolitical dimensions. \nChuck Tatum\, Emeritus Professor of Spanish at the University of Arizona and a long-time member of MVUU\, will lead discussions on border literary production with an emphasis on contemporary writers who have grappled with pressing issues faced by U.S. and Mexican citizens who live along the 2\,000 mile border. Highlighted will be the multi-faceted aspects of immigration. There will be a few short readings. \nChuck has written and lectured on borderlands literature for over forty years. \nCo-sponsored by Mountain Vista Unitarian Universalist Congregation (MVUU) and the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Tucson (UUCT) \nAll Are Welcome
